Review: Conan The Prize by Sideshow

Welcome, today I'm going to show you something a little 'different from the usual products reviewed on the blog: nothing girlie Japanese, no anime characters, no robot! This time it's a character occidentalissimo and very famous, I personally love always: Conan barbarian!
Born from the fertile imagination of the American writer Robert E. Howard, one of the founding fathers of the so-called Heroic Fantasy , Conan is a charismatic personality that I personally have always appreciated, either in literature, which in the Marvel comics of the '70s, beautifully illustrated - among others - by the great John Buscema.
Despite this I had never previously considered the purchase of a statue dedicated to the character. That was until, in the quest for a store where pre-order future statues Sideshow dedicate to Lord of the Rings , I came across this wonder made from the same home.

Unlike usually collect statues, this is a diorama, namely "setting in scale with scenes of various kinds" [directly from Wikipedia]. No hero in static pose, then, but a mighty Conan as never before engaged in a daring escape on the back with the typical scantily clad girl, a classic of its stories, the prize for his latest venture. Not by chance The title for this diorama is "The Prize ", and on the box shows the previous history at the time represented, which is explained as Conan has kidnapped the girl after killing two guards who held her captive in a temple.
is not the first statue of western purchase invoice, I have already for some time Female Templar of Weta, however, is the first time I buy something like this ... huge! 60 cm tall, almost 5 kg of weight, a huge base and detailed and massive as a subject Conan to make this statue a true feast for the eyes, but also something damn cumbersome to handle as to expose.
Made of polystone, the diorama was produced in limited quantities and completely carved and painted by hand. Accustomed as they are the Japanese PVC, perfection and richness of detail of this statue has now left me literally breathless. But I think the following images give a better idea than a thousand words.

Google has the sequence of shots a bit 'random, but I really do not know what else to add, if not mere platitudes.
The Cimmerian is proposed to us in all its glory: the expression wild, powerful muscles, the thong of order, bloody ax in his hand and other lethal weapons (sword, dagger, accept) scattered on the body, as a shield to protect the back. A perfect war machine, which is Conan. Less rich in details the girl, the perfect body shapes and abundant, as typical fictional: he wears the veil that covers barely graces, and various jewels and a crown on his head embellish the picture. The expression betrays anxiety and surprise, but we can imagine how soon these feelings will leave the field to other sensations, as soon will be able to better know his barbarian savior. Huge, heavy, and enriched with fragments of skulls and architectures, the base perfectly conveys the idea of \u200b\u200ban escape through the ruins of a temple in decline.
Overall diorama consists of four parts: the base, the two human figures, the right hand of Conan with an ax in his hand (which once assembled, is secured by magnets) and the veils of the girl, who go stuck in the slots. I imagine that hand and veils are disconnected for reasons of packaging . All this wonder has a considerably higher cost to purchase PVC that usually, but such is not very different from some Soul of Chogokin , then still part of the circle of whims that you can take off without too many sacrifices.
In conclusion I can safely speak of a very successful purchase, one of the best pieces in my collection, even if the size will force me to study some solutions exhibit unusual. Afterwards they will reach other statues, also of Sideshow, but this time drawn from the Lord of the Rings . I'll talk when the time comes, yet will not betray my calling for the PVC and the Japanese mecha, much to the chagrin of my wallet ...
